First week on track with Coach Jessica.

Q. What has your first week been like?
A. It’s been a good learning experience. I’m excited for the next few weeks to see what I can improve myself and to meet different athletes who are keen to learn.

Q. What first drew you to athletics, and now coaching?
A. I started athletics when I was 6 and have loved it ever since. Getting into coaching not only benefits me in better understanding how movements work and to enhance my knowledge but also to be able to teach younger athletes and give them some experience to help improve.

Q. What is the best piece of advice you have been given, that you can pass on to your athletes?
A. Never stop believing in your goals/ dreams and just continue to do your best but most importantly make sure that you are enjoying every moment of it. A wise coach once said to me “The best and the happiest part of the day should be at the track. Leave all your dramas from during the day or week at home and come to the track with a free mind”.

Q. How do you set your own goals?
A. I have always been competitive and I like to challenge myself. At the same time my goals need to be realistic for me and I believe they should always start off small. You can always have a big end goal, but need littler ones to help you build to the bigger picture.

Q. What advice would you give a young athlete preparing for a big race?
A. Stay relaxed knowing that you’ve worked hard for the race. You just need to go out there and do your best, but most importantly have fun and enjoy yourself.

Q. What attributes as a coach do you bring to your training group?
A. I hope to bring enthusiasm and professionalism. I would like to put all of my knowledge and experience into the group so that younger athletes can grow and improve but also have fun in their training.
